These are the 3 questions you can ask yourself:

  1. HOW do I feel?
  2. WHAT do I feel?
  3. WHY do I feel this way?


Time flies when we’re having fun! 

Thanks for daring to enter into this adventure of sipping on your life. Sipping on your love. 

How’s it going for you? 

Sipping on your life is a daily, in the moment, process of D.I.Y. 

What does D.I.Y. LOVE look like? 

Sipping on life is a D.I.Y. experience. Yes, you have to do it FOR YOURSELF. But, you DO NOT have to do it ALL BY YOURSELF. 

My D.I.Y. LOVE experience began the moment I heard the voice of God in my heart, asking me, “Shannon, do you love yourself?” 

The opposite of LOVE isn’t hate, but fear.

When I began to LOVE myself, I was able to begin to see the fear inside me.

It helped me to face my fears. 

In order to love you, you must know you. In order to know you, you must spend time with YOU. 

D.I.Y. LOVE…Loving Yourself…is about getting to know you and spending time with you. 

When you begin to D.I.Y. YOUR LOVE, and truly date yourself well…and become the great lover of your life, it’s all about YOU. 

Are you willing to invest the time, energy, truth, honesty, and vulnerability within your soul to get to know you? 

To meet you. Spend time with you. Get to know YOU, for no other reason but to be with you and fall in love with you. 

You may be thinking that you DO love yourself, because you don’t hate yourself.


When was the last time you actually asked yourself about how you feel? 

This is the FIRST place you can start to D.I.Y. LOVE. 

#1: Ask yourself how you feel. Whatever “it” is for you. 

So often we’re so worried about what everyone else is thinking or feeling, but we don’t take the time to ask ourselves. 

Or we shove our feelings under the surface, negate them, shame, or blame ourselves. 

You may tell yourself that you “shouldn’t” feel a certain way…but you do. 

When was the last time you spent time with yourself, and asked yourself how you feel about something (or anything)? 

How do you feel about YOUR life? 

#2: Ask yourself WHAT you feel.

Take a look at all the stories that you’re telling yourself, and get to the DEEP TRUTH about WHAT you’re actually feeling. 

Is it blame, shame, fear…? 

I’ve found that typically it comes from fear. 

The next time you identify that your feelings are coming from a place of fear, remember this acronym that I’ve created (and use in my own life): 

*Fully. Engage. And. Remember.  

Stop running, and disengaging with your feelings. 

When you feel afraid, ask yourself:

- How am I feeling right now?

- What do I feel right now? 

THEN…fully engage and remember who you are. This is the TRUTH about you, my dear. 

If you don’t feel as though you know what’s TRUE for you anymore, then START by asking yourself HOW you feel and WHAT you feel. 

This will help you begin to uncover and discover what’s TRUE for you.

#3: Ask yourself WHY. Why do you feel the way you feel? 

Go beyond the surface answers, and go deep. 

Perhaps there’s an old story that you’re telling or a residual memory that’s coming up for you. 

Stop, and ask yourself, “WHY?” 

A lot of times the WHY isn’t even the biggest deal. 

But you can ask yourself why you’re even taking a look at it (whatever it is for you.) Ask yourself WHY you even care about how you feel, what you feel, or why you feel that way. 

You care because you’re beginning the process of knowing you, and loving you unconditionally.

D.I.Y. (Do It Yourself.)

Are you willing to build your OWN relationship, and relationships, upon the foundation of the relationship that you’ve built with yourself? 

Most people don’t even think about this.

I believe this is why 2/3 of all relationships end in a break-up. 

Most break-ups or divorces come from the divorce or separation between the head and heart. 

In my case the divorce (or separation) was between who I was and who I thought I “should” be. 

It’s time for you to begin to LOVE yourself. 

Ask yourself OUT, and INTO the deepest parts of you…especially the areas that you’ve been hiding. 

Open up your heart to YOURSELF, and get to know you. 

It’ll expand your ability to LOVE and BE LOVED. 



It’s no longer a concept or theory. These are principles for becoming the great lover of your life.

It’s NOT selfish. 

We will love others the way we love ourselves.

If you don’t love yourself well, you won’t be able to love others well either. 

This is the most selfless thing you can do. If you do not, you’ll expect so much from everyone else. 


From your overflow.


Make a S.O.L. DATE with yourself (Daily Action To Engage with yourself,) by grabbing your journal, and asking yourself these 3 questions:

  1. HOW do I feel?
  2. WHAT do I feel?
  3. WHY do I feel this way?

Write it all out.

You have to do it for yourself, but you do NOT have to do it ALL BY YOURSELF. 

It doesn’t mean you’ll be alone. 

When you begin to become your own greatest company, you’ll begin to share (and want to share) the company that IS YOU. 

Spend some time with YOU today. Getting to know YOU. 

So you can begin to fall in love with YOU, and YOUR LIFE and LIFE’S WORK.

Do the work for yourself. Within yourself.
